I want some really pretty outdoor beverage servers like these but since all the ones on Amazon.com have the worst reviews I think that I will find some huge glass jars and ladles instead. Do you have any other ideas?

I must, absolutely must get a fiddle leaf fig tree (found via Aubrey and Lindsay). 

If we hadn't had made the reclaimed wood headboard we definitely would have made a King Farmhouse Bed. This one from the Bumper Crop is beautiful. 

p.s. I think if I had a beautiful huge fiddle leaf fig tree and the right set of Paper Mojo papers I would be happier - probably. 

New Kitchen Art - Free!

I really love the idea that with a good home printer you can print frame worthy art and graphics for your walls. I purchased three 8.5 x 11 frames for $1 each at the the dollar store and printed out these free prints from Make it Perfect. These are hanging in the kitchen and they make me happy. They got all funky while I was hanging them and I liked it so I made them more crooked and left it. The middle one is a quote from the character Mr. Darcy in Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. 

Oh and here is another one I am plotting a place for because it is so, so true. You download it and others here via LayBabyLay. 

She also shared the other prints she used in the gallery wall below in her daughter's nursery - so cute! In this post she tells you where to order frames online for SO CHEAP. There are tutorials or sources for everything she did in the nursery on her site.

Ava is going to LOVE tracing animal projections - we have been working on the idea of tracing and she is figuring it out - such a smart girl. 

The word from the boss is that we are headed toward a Go Diego Go third birthday party this summer (ugh) so I have been looking for some cute ideas but finding nothing - I am thinking maybe I will just make Ava a rescue pack, have a Diego cake and then just do lots of girly orange and blue. Seriously why can't she just want a cat party like this one - I NEED to make those little cat carrier party favors.

Shop for earrings and this doll and especially this singing bird in a cage at DarlyBird. How cute would an easter basket with things from DarlyBird be?! 

I want to stencil an accent wall with something from here!

Good people SWEAR by the CeraVe line of skincare and it is really affordable. The ladies I know that use it talk about it as if it were a religion. My moisturizer is almost out and I think I am going to pick some up. I love the title of the most popular review of it on Amazon: "more effective than steroids, immune suppressants, or light treatments" ... like a religion.

Finally, I haven't tried it yet but I really needed this advice for removing white heat marks from furniture. 

The Playroom

So the rental house is large, 4 bedrooms and three bathrooms large. There is the master bedroom and a huge bedroom over the garage but then two small front rooms. I guess this is pretty much the way it is with newer houses. My girl's just had too much furniture (did I ever mention Joe works for a furniture company) to fit the two front rooms and the bedroom over the garage was so cool! So I put them both upstairs together and used the decor from Lilly's room to make a playroom downstairs. I totally love having the playroom. Ava still brings toys into the living room but mostly they stay corralled in one super fun area. Especially nice when she has friends and cousins visiting! I picked it up some and took the pics below. Even though I will say that when playing alone Ava is pretty tidy with her things. However, add one other person and they totally destroy the room. Good thing it is pretty easy to clean up! Ava spends a lot of time in this room and she has all kinds of cute little habits - it is like her little world.

The Playroom

The first thing you should know is that there is a dress code. 

 Second, you must thoroughly enjoy your imaginary cup of hot tea (the hostess is offering you) or you will not be allowed to play. You might have to enjoy six or seven cups. 

 Every single time you enter the room you must walk over to the 'monkey jungle ball thing' and put at minimum three balls in the spiral. 

 You only read books in the tent. 

Finally, and most importantly, you have to be very, very silly.

 My favorite part of the playroom is the closet where I can put all of the things that need to be played with one at a time like puzzles, games, play dough etc.  The large clear bins from Ikea roll and stack! Three of them have baby toys in them. When Ava was little I would just pull one out for a few days and when she lost interest in the toys in it I would just put it up and pull out another one.

Gallery Wall Inspiration

First, the snow did cause a delay. Fingers crossed we'll be able to move in on Friday.

So I am using my copious amounts of hotel time to work on plans for perfecting my gallery wall. I blogged about the old space here before we replaced the TV and stand. Since we are renting I have a great opportunity to put time into things like framing our art collections and photos in a really great way. I hope to be blogging a lot this year about the projects I have planned for the rental house, which will all be things we can take with us. Here are some great photos of gallery walls I am using for inspiration.

Lilly's Room - The New Nursery

Long wait right? But introducing Lilly's nursery (we went with yellow). First few photos taken by BlueRayne Photography during Lilly's newborn photo session at our home.

Corner by closet with land of nod bench, vintage dresses & hangers, most accessories from land of nod and piggy bank was a gift. Peg shelf $8 from Michaels. 

I made this pennant with vintage handkerchiefs. The doll triptych is from PBK - $14.95! Yay!

Some fun to the left of the dress up cabinet which is actually an old computer cabinet to which I added some thin strips of wood across the front insets and painted it. More on this fun project later. Flowers left Land of Nod. Basket PBK via Ebay. Mirror Land of Nod matches the rug.
